Join us for a Becoming an Outdoor Family (BOF) Camp at Louisville State Recreation Area & Platte River State Park, NE. NGPC’s BOF camp is designed for new and novice campers who are looking to get started camping but need a bit of encouragement. During the weekend families will stay in a tent (we will provide a tent if you need one) and experience a variety of outdoor fun. Kayaking, fishing, archery and shooting sports, outdoor cooking over a campfire, Dutch ovens and Can cookers. That’s not all! Families will also explore the outdoors learning about nature, wildlife, aquatic life and the flora and fauna of the Platte Valley. Learn how to cook using Dutch Ovens outdoors. Dutch Ovens make it easy to enjoy a tasty outdoor meal just like in the old days. Instructors with share how to season, maintain temperature, cook with, basic tools, clean and store dutch ovens. You will be amazed how just a few simple ingredients can make a filling meal for the whole family to enjoy.

Preparing them for future excursions, campers will learn how to put up tents, build campfires, cook outdoors, take photos, explore the wild, and play outdoor games. Practical safe skills with slingshots, bows, atlatl, and rifles are included.
Drop-off is no earlier than 15 minutes before camp and pick-up is no later than 15 minutes after. No extended hours are offered for this camp.
