Archery 2 – JOAD (Compound) @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Our Center Shot Archery Academy intermediate level class is open to students who have previously been enrolled at the intermediate level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Lessons will focus on the form, equipment, and attitude needed to shoot a compound bow in hunting, recreational, and competitive settings. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Students will receive their own copy of the National Training System (NTS) shot cycle, a stretch band, a string bow, and a finger sling.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least four steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 4 pins (white pin) in any discipline
– Personal compound equipment is required (equipment should be fitted to the individual in terms of draw weight and length before the first class)

•Any child under 11 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian every session;
•At the first session, everyone under 18 years of age must give the instructor a signed, completed Parental Release Form (download, print, and sign);
•All students under 19 years of age should be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the first session to ensure appropriate information is received on dates, sessions, and additional requirements.

You must cancel your registration before Friday, November 1, 2019, at 11:00am CDT.

All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by November 2, 2019.
To be certified for this event you must be at least 11 years old by the last day of the class.

Firearm hunters ages 12 through 29 must have completed a Firearm Education Course and carry proof on their person when hunting any species with a firearm, muzzleloader, or air gun.

Additionally:

Archery hunters ages 12 through 29 must have completed a Bowhunter Education Course and carry proof on their person when hunting Deer, Antelope, Elk, or Mountain Sheep with a bow or crossbow.

A Combination Course will provide instruction from knowledgeable and dedicated volunteer instructors in the safe use of firearm and archery equipment, fundamentals of hunting, shooting and hunting techniques, game identification, conservation management as well as hunter ethics.

Students 11 years of age and older on the examination day will be able to take the test and complete the course and may be issued certificates of successful completion of both Firearm and Bowhunter Education.

The classroom course is a minimum of 14 hours total and a minimum of 2 sessions. Most classes offered are 2 to 5 sessions.

•Any child under 11 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian every session;
•Those under 11 years of age will be required to complete the class in full following their 11th birthday. Online registration is only available to those ages 11 and older;

This basic USA Archery class is open to students who are new to JOAD or who are still working to advance to Archery 2. Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required.

Our Center Shot Archery Academy course includes achievement awards, skill training, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Archery 1 students have the opportunity to shoot for their green and purple pins during select class sessions. Over the course of the quarter, students will advance their scoring skills, learn about competition etiquette, and work to achieve the pins and techniques needed to advance to the next level.

No equipment is required, but personal equipment is allowed for some portions of the class.

If seats are listed as available, students may register and join the class at any time except the last 4 weeks of the quarter. Allowances may be made at the discretion of the instructor. Full price still applies.

Ages 8 and over.

Explore Archery is a fun and perfect fit for beginners of any ability wanting to get started in the sport of archery.

If a student is fairly new to archery and looking for a full introductory program, Explore Archery has everything you need – bows, arrows, and enthusiastic instructors! You’ll learn range safety, fundamentals of archery shooting, and parts of a bow and arrow – plus receive skill-building coaching and play exciting games.

Try Archery is your place to start!

This easy-going program covers basic range rules and procedures, along with simple form. Students get to fling arrows on their very first session! And whether archery turns out to be your thing or not, students walk away with the ability to be safe and have fun wherever adventure takes them next.

All equipment provided. Open to both kids (8 and up) and adults – ideal for families.
