Archery 2 – JOAD (Compound) @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Our Center Shot Archery Academy intermediate level class is open to students who have previously been enrolled at the intermediate level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Lessons will focus on the form, equipment, and attitude needed to shoot a compound bow in hunting, recreational, and competitive settings. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Students will receive their own copy of the National Training System (NTS) shot cycle, a stretch band, a string bow, and a finger sling.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least four steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 4 pins (white pin) in any discipline
– Personal compound equipment is required (equipment should be fitted to the individual in terms of draw weight and length before the first class)

MEMBERSHIP
The tournament is open to all USA Archery as well as archers with no affiliation. Eligible USA Archery members can earn qualifying pin scores (pins are to be physically awarded by your home club – please check with your coach). No placement awards or door prizes will be given.

Preregistration is very appreciated! Tournament fee and USA membership fee are separate payments, if needed. Contact us at 402-471-6141 if you experience difficulty with registration.

FIRST SHOTS Pistol @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Take your first shots with us!

The biggest challenge for new shooters is getting started. First Shots makes getting started in shooting very easy – and, best of all, it’s only $10!

At a First Shots seminar, you’ll receive:
-An educational introduction to the safe and recreational use of firearms
-A clear understanding of the local requirements for owning and purchasing a firearm
-Individual and group training
-A rundown of shooting sports opportunities for all levels of interest
-A chance to give shooting a try!

This seminar offers a small group setting for students ages 16 and over. All equipment is provided.

Attending participants receive a reward coupon for over 50% off their next handgun class at the Outdoor Education Center. Preregistration required.

Closed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Project WILD & Aquatic WILD Educator Workshop @ Ponca State Park- Resource & Education Center

This workshop requires pre-registration. To register email Holly.green@nebraska.gov with your full name, affiliation, and ages of children you work with.
**This workshop also requires each participant to have a park permit- this could either be a day pass, or an annual pass.
 
Developed in 1983 by the Council for Environmental Education, Project WILD and Aquatic WILD are award-winning curriculum guides designed to help educators incorporate wildlife and conservation into their classrooms or programs. Lessons are interdisciplinary and promote critical thinking. Additionally, lessons can easily be used to meet Nebraska State Educational Standards for math, science, language arts and social studies.
 
Both Project WILD and Aquatic WILD teach lessons such as life cycles, habitats, wildlife populations, biodiversity, land management, and human-wildlife interactions. Project WILD focuses on terrestrial habitats including prairie, forests, urban and farm land. Aquatic WILD focuses on aquatic habitats including rivers, lakes, oceans and wetlands.
 
In Nebraska, Project WILD workshops provide training for both Project WILD and Aquatic WILD guides. Participants of Project WILD workshops can expect to learn not only content knowledge but also skills to implement activities into their setting. Workshops provide participants with both the Project WILD and Aquatic WILD guide.

Students ages 11 through 15 who have completed Hunter-ed and/or Bowhunter-ed online courses must attend the Hunt Safe Session in order to be issued a certificate of completion. If you’ve completed the online course in the past 12 months, your voucher is still valid for certification. Please note, students 16 and older are welcome to attend but this Hunt Safe Session course is not required for certification.

To attend, proof of completion from the online course is required. Certification can be provided for both Archery Hunter Education and Firearm Hunter Education but vouchers must be presented for the online courses to earn completion certificates.

You must cancel your registration before Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 10:00am CST.

All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by November 9, 2019.
To be certified for this event you must be at least 11 years old by the last day of the class.

Hunt Safe Sessions are offered by knowledgeable and dedicated volunteer instructors. Hunters ages 12 through 29 must have completed Firearm Hunter Education and carry proof on their person when hunting anything with a firearm or air gun. Archery Hunters ages 12 through 29 must have completed a separate Bowhunter Education Course and carry proof on their person when hunting Deer, Antelope, Elk or Mountain Sheep with a bow and arrow or crossbow.

Students ages 11 through 15 who have completed Hunter-ed and/or Bowhunter-ed online courses must attend the Hunt Safe Session in order to be issued a certificate of completion. If you’ve completed the online course in the past 12 months, your voucher is still valid for certification. Please note, students 16 and older are welcome to attend but this Hunt Safe Session course is not required for certification.

At the first session, everyone under 18 years of age must give the instructor a signed, completed Parental Release Form (download, print, and sign);
All students under 19 years of age should be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the first session to ensure appropriate information is received on dates, sessions, and additional requirements.

Each Saturday and Sunday in November from noon to 5pm visit the museum at Ash Hollow for a high end vintage clothing exhibit featuring hand bead work and embroidery. This interactive, hands-on presentation invites guests to touch and feel the craftsmanship of garments from the 1880s through the 1980s. The event wraps up on December 1st from 4pm -7pm with a fashion show along with drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

Park entry permit required.

Archery 1 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Nov 11 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

This basic USA Archery class is open to students who are new to JOAD or who are still working to advance to Archery 2. Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required.

Our Center Shot Archery Academy course includes achievement awards, skill training, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Archery 1 students have the opportunity to shoot for their green and purple pins during select class sessions. Over the course of the quarter, students will advance their scoring skills, learn about competition etiquette, and work to achieve the pins and techniques needed to advance to the next level.

No equipment is required, but personal equipment is allowed for some portions of the class.

If seats are listed as available, students may register and join the class at any time except the last 4 weeks of the quarter. Allowances may be made at the discretion of the instructor. Full price still applies.

Ages 8 and over.
