Archery 1 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

This basic USA Archery class is open to students who are new to JOAD or who are still working to advance to Archery 2. Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required.

Our Center Shot Archery Academy course includes achievement awards, skill training, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Archery 1 students have the opportunity to shoot for their green and purple pins during select class sessions. Over the course of the quarter, students will advance their scoring skills, learn about competition etiquette, and work to achieve the pins and techniques needed to advance to the next level.

No equipment is required, but personal equipment is allowed for some portions of the class.

If seats are listed as available, students may register and join the class at any time except the last 4 weeks of the quarter. Allowances may be made at the discretion of the instructor. Full price still applies.

Ages 8 and over.

Centerfire Challenge League (Winter Series) @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Jan 14 @ 5:00 pm – 7:15 pm

This league will provide fun and exciting pistol shooting for all skill levels, in a competitive but relaxed setting. Ages 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Shooters will provide their own handgun and ammunition. This league runs for 8 weeks, with scores for each evening and a cumulative score for the series.

Course of fire:

2 strings of 5 rounds in 10 seconds at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards – 50 shots total.

AP-1 target (23″ X 35″).

Participants may arrive and start any time between 5-7:15 pm.

Explore Archery @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Explore Archery is a fun and perfect fit for beginners of any ability wanting to get started in the sport of archery.

If a student is fairly new to archery and looking for a full introductory program, Explore Archery has everything you need – bows, arrows, and enthusiastic instructors! You’ll learn range safety, fundamentals of archery shooting, and parts of a bow and arrow – plus receive skill-building coaching and play exciting games.

Ages 8 and over.

Indoor Sight-in Extravaganza for 3-D Archery @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Make sure your sight pins won’t let you down as you head into some big indoor 3-D tournaments this season.

Our INDOOR archery range bales will be set up for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 yard distances (see lane distribution below). Range finders, binoculars, and allen wrenches are all welcome!

This is not a 3-D event, but we will have targets set up to check your accuracy at increasing distances.

10 yards – 1 bale
20 yards – 2 bales
30 yards – 2 bales
40 yards – 2 bales
50 yards – 1 bale

The range will be available for this special event Sunday, January 19 12-6 pm and Monday, January 20 12-6 pm.

Outdoor Ed Center NASP/IBO 3D Challenge @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

NASP/IBO 3D Challenge hosted by the Outdoor Education Center.

Check in desk open at 3 pm.

Flights start at 4, 5, 6, and 7 pm. (Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your scheduled flight time.)

Maximum 24 archers per flight. Register to reserve your spot; walk-ins welcome but are not guaranteed a flight time.

Online registration closes Wednesday, January 22 at 5pm. Any registration after that date/time is walk-in only.

$1 spectator fee charged at the door to all non-competitors age 10 and older, except designated volunteers and NASP BAI certified coaches.

$11/archer.

Concessions not provided.

Additional details:

– Individuals in grades 4-12 welcome

– Placement awards for individuals only (no teams)

– Award ceremony approximately 8 pm for top 3 archers in standard NASP divisions – female elementary, middle, and high school & male elementary, middle, and high school.
