Archery Academy Camp @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

This exclusively archery-focused camp will take students’ archery skills to the next level. Youth that are new, intermediate, or advanced will all find a path that adds to their knowledge and ability. Topics covered include range safety, equipment knowledge, scoring, intro to competition, stretching and exercises, and lots of practice time & games included!

Drop-off is no earlier than 15 minutes before camp and pick-up is no later than 15 minutes after. No extended hours are offered for this camp.

Family Fun Nights – McCook @ Red Willow Reservoir

Family Fun Night activities include: Fishing (equipment provided), Archery, Kayaking and Family Cookout. All gear for activities will be provided. Only the park sticker needed to participate. All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license to actively fish(OutdoorNebraska.org for permits).

Archery 3 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

The advanced level class is open to students that have previously been enrolled at the team level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

This additional Center Shot Archery Academy class section offers high level coaching with educational opportunities outside of class, such as personalized equipment advice and individual coaching sessions. Students have the opportunity to continue to hone the skills needed to earn pins and work at an advanced competency level for either competition or recreation.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least seven steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 5 pins (black pin) in any discipline
– Personal equipment

Explore Archery @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Explore Archery is a fun and perfect fit for beginners of any ability wanting to get started in the sport of archery.

If a student is fairly new to archery and looking for a full introductory program, Explore Archery has everything you need – bows, arrows, and enthusiastic instructors! You’ll learn range safety, fundamentals of archery shooting, and parts of a bow and arrow – plus receive skill-building coaching and play exciting games.

Nebraska Bowfishing Mentor Program Northeast @ Ponca State Park

Looking to Discover the World of Bowfishing? We have the program to get your feet in the water. We will explore the gear needed, where and how to go, how to prepare your catch, and how to do it! Best of all, this program is FREE! The dates for this series are July 9th, 11th, 18th, and 20th (the 20th will be held at Gavins Point Dam). Please pre-register.

The team is open to students that have previously been enrolled at the team level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Center Shot Archery Academy team members are focused on competing in their chosen sport and taking their abilities to the next level ? locally and nationally. Team members have amazing opportunities as they travel, meet archers from other teams, and test their skills with various styles of tournaments. Parents/students must fill out an understanding of commitment form. Personal coaching and additional educational opportunities mean that students keep growing in proportion to the work they put in.

Ages 8 and over.

– Archery 3
– Name at least seven steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 5 pins (black pin) in any discipline

– Committed to compete
– 8 Local tournaments
– 1 regional or national tournament

Ladies Lunch and Lesson @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Perfect for beginners, our Lunch and Lessons firearm series provides an introduction to different gun types – at a convenient time.

Fridays in July 11:15-12pm! This month, be sure to bring your sack lunch with you. Attend from one to all four sessions depending on your schedule. Each session will include a hands-on firearm activity.

July 12: Rifle (.22 caliber) – $20

July 19: Muzzleloader – $20

July 26: Pistol (.22 caliber) – $20

August 2: Shotgun – $20

Archery 2 (Compound) – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Jul 12 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Our Center Shot Archery Academy intermediate level class is open to students who have previously been enrolled at the intermediate level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Lessons will focus on the form, equipment, and attitude needed to shoot a compound bow in hunting, recreational, and competitive settings. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Students will receive their own copy of the National Training System (NTS) shot cycle, a stretch band, a string bow, and a finger sling.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least four steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 4 pins (white pin) in any discipline
– Personal compound equipment is required (equipment should be fitted to the individual in terms of draw weight and length before the first class)

Community Fishing Night – Holdrege @ City Park Lake
Jul 12 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, events will be held at venues across the state. Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, or a gathering of NGPC Staff and volunteers, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or have not fished for years to learn. All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license (OutdoorNebraska.org for permits).
