Interested in archery? Not sure where to begin?

This introduction to archery is your place to start!

Try archery will cover basic range rules and procedures, along with basic form. The whole point of this class is to see if archery is something you could be really interested in. This class will have you flinging arrows in no time! Archery is a lifelong sport that the entire family can enjoy!

Archery 1 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Jun 3 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

This basic USA Archery class is open to students who are new to JOAD or who are still working to advance to Archery 2. Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required.

Our Center Shot Archery Academy course includes achievement awards, skill training, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Archery 1 students have the opportunity to shoot for their green and purple pins during select class sessions. Over the course of the quarter, students will advance their scoring skills, learn about competition etiquette, and work to achieve the pins and techniques needed to advance to the next level.

No equipment is required, but personal equipment is allowed for some portions of the class.

If seats are listed as available, students may register and join the class at any time except the last 4 weeks of the quarter. Allowances may be made at the discretion of the instructor. Full price still applies.

Archery 2 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Jun 4 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Our Center Shot Archery Academy intermediate level class is open to students who have previously been enrolled at the intermediate level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Lessons will focus on the form, equipment, and attitude needed to shoot a bow in recreational and competitive settings. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Students will receive their own copy of the National Training System (NTS) shot cycle, a stretch band, a string bow, and a finger sling.

No personal equipment is required, but should start to be considered.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least four steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 4 pins (white pin) in any discipline

Archery 3 – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

The advanced level class is open to students that have previously been enrolled at the team level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

This additional Center Shot Archery Academy class section offers high level coaching with educational opportunities outside of class, such as personalized equipment advice and individual coaching sessions. Students have the opportunity to continue to hone the skills needed to earn pins and work at an advanced competency level for either competition or recreation.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least seven steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 5 pins (black pin) in any discipline
– Personal equipment

Archery Team – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Jun 6 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The team is open to students that have previously been enrolled at the team level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Center Shot Archery Academy team members are focused on competing in their chosen sport and taking their abilities to the next level ? locally and nationally. Team members have amazing opportunities as they travel, meet archers from other teams, and test their skills with various styles of tournaments. Parents/students must fill out an understanding of commitment form. Personal coaching and additional educational opportunities mean that students keep growing in proportion to the work they put in.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Archery 3
– Name at least seven steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 5 pins (black pin) in any discipline
– Personal equipment
– Committed to compete
– 8 Local tournaments
– 1 regional or national tournament

Explore Archery @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Explore Archery is a fun and perfect fit for beginners of any ability wanting to get started in the sport of archery.

If a student is fairly new to archery and looking for a full introductory program, Explore Archery has everything you need – bows, arrows, and enthusiastic instructors! You’ll learn range safety, fundamentals of archery shooting, and parts of a bow and arrow – plus receive skill-building coaching and play exciting games.

Ladies’ Lunch and Lesson @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Perfect for beginners, our Lunch and Lessons firearm series provides an introduction to different gun types – at a convenient time.

Fridays in June 11:15-12pm! This month, be sure to bring your sack lunch with you. Attend from one to all four sessions depending on your schedule. Each session will include a hands-on firearm activity.

June 7: Rifle (.22 caliber) – $20

June 14: Muzzleloader – $20

June 21: Pistol (.22 caliber) – $20

June 28: Shotgun – $20

Archery 2 Compound – JOAD @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Our Center Shot Archery Academy intermediate level class is open to students who have previously been enrolled at the intermediate level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites.

Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. Students will receive their own copy of the National Training System (NTS) shot cycle, a stretch band, a string bow, and a finger sling.

Ages 8 and over.

Prerequisites:
– Name at least four steps of the NTS Shot Cycle
– Earn at least 4 pins (white pin) in any discipline
– Personal compound equipment is required (equipment should be fitted to the individual in terms of draw weight and length before the first class)

Nebraska Adventures Camp @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Designed for fledgling outdoors enthusiasts, the Nebraska Adventures Camp is a way to explore the state without the gas mileage. Campers will develop an appreciation of the natural world by exploring different regions – the wildlife, landscapes, and unique adventures only found in Nebraska.

Preparing them for future excursions, campers will learn how to put up tents, build campfires, cook outdoors, take photos, explore the wild, and play outdoor games. Practical safe skills with slingshots, bows, atlatl, and rifles are included.

Drop-off is no earlier than 15 minutes before camp and pick-up is no later than 15 minutes after. No extended hours are offered for this camp.
