Christmas Bird Count @ Indian Cave State Park

Join us for the Christmas Bird Count at Indian Cave State Park!

The Christmas Bird Count is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society that allows researchers to study the long-term health and status of bird populations across North America. Thousands of volunteers participate in the count each year, and you can be one of them – no birding expertise needed.

The event is free and no registration is required. Binoculars and bird ID books will be available to borrow. The event begins at the park’s shop at 8 a.m.

A Park Entry Permit is required.

Christmas in the Woods @ Ponca State Park
Dec 15 all-day

Seasonal educational activities including old-fashion holiday crafts, lighted hayrack rides, free cookies and hot cider, sledding hill, groomed cross-country ski trails (snow permitting), and Snowman Building Contest.

A Park Entry Permit is required.

Christmas at the Mansion @ Arbor Lodge State Historical Park

Yule Log Festival @ Platte River State Park
Dec 15 @ 12:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Enjoy the beautiful season of the park with friends and family at this Yule Log Festival. Beginning at noon there will be activities such as pine cone bird feeder making, marshmallow roasting, time with Santa, and other crafts and games. At 3pm the Yule Log Quest begins – teams may register by calling 402-234-2217. After the quest enjoy a bonfire and free lighted hayrack rides. Meet at the Walter Scott Lodge for all activities. Refreshments will be on sale at the Lodge.

Park entry permit required.

Christmas at the Cody’s @ Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park
Dec 15 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Celebrate Christmas at the Cody’s each weekend in December leading up until Christmas. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children.

This event includes: Hayrack rides, Nightly entertainment in Irma’s parlor, best decorated room judging by local media, cookies/chestnut roasting and apple cider, kids’scavenger hunt, and take your own pictures with Santa!

December 7th kicks off the ribbon cutting and lighting ceremony.

December 15th is Military and First Responders Night.
