1st Day Hike – Indian Cave State Park @ Indian Cave State Park
Jan 1 @ 8:00 am – 10:00 am

A Walk with the Dogs!  Bring your dog (or dogs!) and a leash and join us on a 2 mile jaunt through the woods.  Come to enjoy the scenery and comradery with other dog lovers.  Walkers will meet at the museum.

Leashes are required and must be no more than 6 ft. in length. Please monitor the weather and dress appropriately.

Park entry permit required.

1st Day Hike – Fort Kearny SRA @ Fort Kearny State Recreation Area
Jan 1 @ 9:00 am

Join us at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area for a one mile hike to start off the new year! Enjoy scenic views of wildlife and the Platte River.

Meet at the trail head of the Hike and Bike Trail at Fort Kearny SRA.  Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

Park entry permit required.

1st Day Hike – Fremont SRA @ Fremont State Recreation Area

Join us on January 1st at 9:00am at the Fremont State Recreation Area’s Park Headquarters Building for our 1st Day Hike.

Explore the wintertime wildlife and outdoor scenery to begin the new year.

You are encouraged to bring your pets, but they must remain on a six-foot (maximum) leash.

Please come prepared with weather appropriate items such as water, walking stick, snowshoes, warm shoes and clothes, etc.  Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

1st Day Hike – Pawnee SRA @ Pawnee State Recreation Area

Join us at the Lakeview Campground area (Area 4) for a nature hike and wildlife viewing at Pawnee State Recreation area!  The hike begins at 9:00am and is approximately 1 1/2 miles. Bring your binoculars, water, and snacks for the trek! Pets are welcome but must be leashed (maximum 6′).  Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

1st Day Hike – Platte River SP @ Platte River State Park

Platte River State Park is bringing in the New Year with hiking and cocoa.  Hikers will have the option of climbing the observation tower and enjoying some hot cocoa after the hike.  The hike will offer birding along the Stone Creek Trail as it passes our small waterfall.

You are encouraged to bring your pets, but they must remain on a six-foot (maximum) leash.

Please com prepared with weather appropriate items such as water, snowshoes, warm shoes and clothes, etc.  Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

1st Day Hike – Ash Hollow SHP @ Ash Hollow State Historical Park

Join us at 9am at Ash Hollow State Historical Park’s Picnic Area for our 1st Day Hike!

Hike along the Oregon-California Trail through Ash Hollow State Historical Park and follow in the footsteps of pioneers who forged their way westward in the nineteenth century.  There will be soup and refreshments after the hike at the park shop.

You are encouraged to bring your pets, but they must remain on a six-foot (maximum) leash.

Please come prepared with weather appropriate items such as water, snowshoes, warm shoes and clothes, etc.  Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

1st Day Hike – Calamus Reservoir @ Calamus State Recreation Area

Walk the campground trail through the grass covered sandhills and see a view of the reservoir along with winter wildlife that frequent the park. Join the staff after the hike for a cup of hot chocolate.  Guests will meet at the Homestead Knolls shower house.

Please come prepared with weather appropriate items such as water, walking stick, snowshoes, warm shoes and clothes, etc. Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

1st Day Hike – Johnson Lake SRA @ Johnson Lake SRA
Jan 1 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join us for a First Day Hike along the Larry D. Roper trail at Johnson Lake State Recreation Area!  Guests will meet at the shop/office area at Johnson Lake to begin the hike and will have the opportunity to see eagles, migratory birds, and other small wildlife. Please monitor the weather and dress appropriately.
