Introduction to Shooting @ Platte River State Park

Bring the whole family* to the range this summer and learn to shoot. This class is intended for those new and novice shooters wanting to shoot in a family friendly educational facility. Participants will learn from experienced instructors on how to shoot safely and accurately. Firearms, archery equipment and safety gear will be provided.

Location: Outdoor Heritage Education Complex (OHEC)
at Platte River State Park
When: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

• August 8 Archery
• August 15 Shotgun
Fee: $15 per person per session
Age Requirement: 10 years & older
Other Information:

• Limited to the first 15 registrations per event (registration required)
• 2018 Park permit required
• Cancellation prior to one week may be refunded.

Becoming an Outdoors Family Ponca State Park @ Ponca State Park

Join us for a Becoming an Outdoor Family (BOF) Camp at Ponca State Park, Ponca, NE. NGPC’s BOF camp is designed for new and novice campers who are looking to get started camping but need a bit of encouragement.  During the weekend families will stay in a tent (we will provide a tent if you need one) and experience a variety of outdoor fun. Kayaking, fishing,  archery and shooting sports, outdoor cooking over a campfire, Dutch ovens and Can cookers. That’s not all! Families will also explore the outdoors learning about nature, wildlife, aquatic life and the flora and fauna of the Platte Valley. 2018 Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational @ Pressey Wildlife Management Area (17 miles south of Broken Bow, NE)

Join us for the 2018 Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational, the longest running organized youth shooting event in Nebraska.

This is a free competition, open to all youth age 11 or older who have successfully completed Hunter Education and who have not yet graduated from high school. Proof of Hunter Education completion is required.

All first-time shooters at the event will receive one free box of .22 ammo!

Range will open for practice at 7:30 a.m. Matches will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude mid-afternoon. Competitors will be grouped in various classes according to age, rifle weight, sight type and experience level, competing against others in their own class. Individuals and teams are encouraged to enter. Trophies or medals will be awarded to the winners of each class.

Only equipment authorized by NRA Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Rules will be permitted. Shooters should bring their own rifle and ammunition – Standard or High Velocity .22 short, long or long rifle. No Stingers or Ultra High Velocity ammo allowed.
