Intro to Competition Rifle Shooting @ Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center
Apr 24 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Expand your firearms knowledge & skill! This 5 week session includes classroom and range time every week. Participants are expected to come to class with a working knowledge of gun safety and be capable of shooting a rifle with minimal instruction.

Minimum age for students is 17 unless granted special permission by the instructor.

In the classroom, we’ll discuss the basics of becoming involved in competition rifle shooting, as well as hone marksmanship techniques. In the range, we’ll get comfortable with a competition environment by holding a different type of mock match each night.

If bringing your own gun, plan on shooting 60 cartridges per night. Personal rifles are limited to .17 or .22 caliber (magnums & stingers okay; no .223s). Guns must be in SAFE WORKING ORDER. All action types allowed for the purposes of the class. Air rifles are also permitted.

If shooting facility .22 rifles, the registration cost will be increased. Minimum 4 registered students to hold class – you must preregister.

This class skips the week of May 8th.

Due on April 17th: $60/student/own equipment & ammo $110/student/facility equipment & ammo

Looking for a good way to introduce your son or daughter to the lifelong habits of safe gun handling and the basic concepts of marksmanship? Whether your child is interested in recreation, competition, or hunting, this class is where they need to be!

Explore Rifle is a 4 week course designed for youth ages 8-10, but open to those up to 15. Youth 7 & under are not permitted. BB guns (.177 cal) used for all class exercises (equipment provided). Air guns are a tried-and-true non-threatening way to teach gun basics and a great building-block to becoming a safe and competent shooter with larger caliber equipment.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay & learn how to help guide their new shooter.

Cost for 4 week series: $20/student

Registration closes April 26th. Minimum 4 students required to hold class. Participants must be preregistered, no walk-ins allowed. Class limited to 12 students only.

Course outline:

range shooting rifles, shotguns and archery. Enjoy a delicious Dutch oven and campfire lunch. The fun will not stop there, spending
the afternoon discovering the park’s scenic hiking trails and crawdad creek. This day you won’t want to miss!
