Youth Hunter Education Challenge @ Platte River State Park
Oct 13 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

2018-77436 Youth Hunter Education ChallengeSpecial Instructions for All Students

Youth over the age of 11 who have successfully completed hunter education are invited to take part in Nebraska’s state Youth Hunter Education Challenge.

The Youth Hunter Education Challenge, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 13, will allow youth to compete for prizes in a simulated hunting experience. The event, which is sponsored by the National Rifle Association, will help youth build their skills, get real-world hunting experience and learn about hunter safety and responsibility as they compete in six challenges, including 3-D archery, muzzleloading and shotgun. The event will take place at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex at Platte River State Park near Louisville.

The challenge’s simulated hunt setup provides the ideal practical environment for reinforcing and testing a young hunter’s skills. The event is designed to further the skills taught in hunter education and to give young hunters the skills and confidence they need to make hunting a lifelong pursuit.

The challenge is available only to hunter education graduates age 11 or older who have not yet completed high school. Hunters are encouraged to use their own equipment and ammunition, but are not required to. A T-shirt and lunch will be provided for all participants. Prizes provided by the Big Game Conservation Association will be given to winners in each category
